The pipeline

From first notice to settled in five steps

Every travel claim moves through the same five-stage pipeline. Each stage is automated, auditable, and designed to hand off only the exceptions that genuinely need a human.

What happens at each stage

Every stage is designed to handle the structured majority of travel claims automatically, while passing the genuine edge cases to your team.

Stage 1

FNOL intake and triage

Claims arrive via structured API payload or our portal form. Insurteam extracts the loss type, date, flight details, and submitter identity. Duplicate detection and initial completeness check run automatically before the claim advances.

Stage 2

Policy clause extraction

The policy PDF is read by our LLM, which identifies the coverage section, trigger conditions, exclusions, and any endorsement overrides relevant to this claim. Clause references are tagged and retained for the audit log.

Stage 3

Loss event verification

For flight delay claims, delay duration and cause are checked against verified data sources. The reported event is confirmed against policy trigger thresholds before the claim advances to settlement evaluation.

Stage 4

Parametric rules engine

Your configured rules are applied: delay thresholds, payout amounts per hour or day, connecting-flight proration, and trip-interruption sub-limit stacking. The engine returns a structured decision JSON with confidence score and clause citations.

Stage 5

Settlement and notification

The settlement instruction is passed to your core system or payment partner. The policyholder receives notification. The full decision log, clause extracts, and event data are retained and accessible via API for your compliance records.

Exception handling

Complex cases to your team

Claims that fall outside parametric thresholds, carry ambiguous clause language, or trigger fraud signals are routed to your adjusters with the pre-extracted policy data and a structured summary. They start with context, not a blank file.

Integration approach

Sits in front of your existing systems

Insurteam is not a core insurance platform. It is a processing layer that connects via REST API to your TPA, policy administration system, or claims management tool. Your team does not need to learn new software or migrate data.

The integration contract is simple: you send a FNOL payload and a policy document reference; Insurteam returns a structured decision. Your system acts on the decision or routes the exception. No platform migration required.
